Artist's Thoughts

Why is it always the urgent things that drag us away from and blind us to that which is most important?  Here's to giving breath to the things that we know to be the most alive, riveting, essential, creative and holy in our lives.

As a child, I cried and cried when my mom and I picked out a gift for a child who wanted a ball for Christmas.  I cannot make it through The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein without my throat tightening and my voice dissolving in tears.  Watching my three year old snuggle with his daddy in the wee hours of the morning, unable to possibly get any closer to safety, love, contact, connection, warmth...this is beauty.

These things make me, inspire me, move me.

I long to dip my toes in sacred paint.  To have deep purple cover my feet and drip patiently, tenderly into a pool that it knows as home.  To rest, wrestle, play, ache, and hope in whispered vibrancy.

My paintings are me, are my life, are my experiences, are my best days and worst hours tumbled out for you to greet with your own self, your life, your experiences, your best days and your worst hours.

Painting is giving attention, my gaze, my desire to the important.
