ROBERT KURTZ

Artist's Bio

Robert developed an interest and ability in art at an early age and was referred by a grade school teacher to participate in special classes at the Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo, Ohio.  One of his pieces was chosen to represent the city in an art exchange program with Tokyo, Japan.  His interest in art was put on a shelf for many years, with a few drawings or watercolor paintings being produced mostly for friends, family, or community events.  In his mid forties he was inspired to try oil painting after seeing a large landscape painting by Stefan Baumann in the home of some friends.  He was determined to take up oil painting and to learn from an accomplished artist.  As time permitted, he was able to take some classes and develop his own style and subject matter.

Robert Kurtz has shown some of his work in juried shows, sold to private collectors, and donated pieces to various non-profit fund raisers.  He is a member of the Los Gatos Art Association in California.  Using his artwork to help charitable causes is extremely important to him, as he believes talents and abilities are to be used to benefit others.
